[05] Surah Al-Ma'idah [The Table Spread With Food]
Ayat 22. They said: "O Musa (Moses)! In it (this holy land) are a people of great strength, and we shall never enter it, till they leave it; when they leave, then we will enter."
Tafseer of Surah Al Ma'idah Ayat 22. They said: "O Moses! In this land are a people of exceeding strength: Never shall we enter it until they leave it: if (once) they leave, then shall we enter." The people were not willing to follow the lead of Moses, and were not willing to fight for their "inheritance." In effect they said: "Turn out the enemy first, and then we shall enter into possession." In Allah's Law we must work and strive for what we wish to enjoy.
English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah 
[SAWW](PBUH) said, "Fight the polytheists with your wealth, lives and tongues.''
[Abu Dawud Hadith # 2504]
Lesson: This Hadith mentions three categories of Jihad, namely Jihad with wealth, Jihad with one's life and Jihad by speech. One should make Jihad as is warranted by the situation one is confronted with. That is, where a Muslim is required to sacrifice his life, he must sacrifice his life; where he is required to sacrifice his wealth, he should spend wealth; and where he is required to make Jihad by means of his speech, he should do it by speech. One should not hesitate to spend for the sake of Allah what is required by the situation.
