Daily Qur'an & Hadith 08 June 2019 (04 Shawal 1440)

English Translation of Al-Quran
[05] Surah Al-Ma'idah [The Table Spread With Food]
Ayat 107. If then it gets known that these two had been guilty of sin, let two others stand forth in their places, nearest in kin from among those who claim a lawful right. Let them swear by Allah (saying): "We affirm that our testimony is truer than that of both of them, and that we have not trespassed (the truth), for then indeed we should be of the wrongdoers."
Tafseer of Surah Al Ma'idah Ayat 107. But if it gets known that these two were guilty of  the sin (of perjury), let two others stand forth in their places,- nearest in kin from among those who claim a lawful right: let them swear by Allah. "We affirm that our witness is truer than that of those two, and that we have not trespassed (beyond the truth): if we did, behold! the wrong be upon us!" Istahaqqa = Deserved having something (good or evil) attributed to one; hence the alternative meanings: (1) committed or was guilty (of a sin); (2) had or claimed a lawful right (to property). The procedure was followed in an actual case in the Prophet's PBUH lifetime. A man from Madinah died abroad, having made over his goods, to two friends, to be delivered to his designated heirs in Madinah. They however, kept back a valuable silver cup. When this was found out, oaths were taken from those who knew, justice was done.

English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D427F9.38726CB0 [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Shall I not inform you of one of the gravest of the cardinal sins?'' We said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!'' He (PBUH) said, "To join others as partners with Allah in worship and to be undutiful to one's parents.'' The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) sat up from his reclining position (in order to stress the importance of what he was going to say) and added, "I warn you making a false statement and giving a false testimony. I warn you against making a false statement and giving a false testimony.'' The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) kept on repeating this (warning) till we wished he should stop.
[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 74, Hadith # 290-291]
Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ma'idah Ayat 107. If then it gets known that these two had been guilty of sin, let two others stand forth in their places, nearest in kin from among those who claim a lawful right. Let them swear by Allah (saying): "We affirm that our testimony is truer than that of both of them, and that we have not trespassed (the truth), for then indeed we should be of the wrongdoers." ” The contents of this Hadith make the gravity of making a false statement abundantly clear. How unfortunate indeed it is that, like other major sins, the evil of giving false testimony is very common among the present-day Muslims. May Allah prevent us from it.

Today's Hadith is about the Blessings of Wealth
It was narrated from Abu Al-Ahwas (AS), from his father,: That he came to the Prophet [SAW] wearing shabby clothes. The Prophet [SAW] said to him: "Do you have any wealth?" He said: "Yes, all kinds of wealth." He said: "What kinds of wealth?" He said: "Allah has given me camels, cattle, sheep, horses and slaves." He said: "If Allah has given you wealth, then let the effect of Allah's blessing and generosity be seen on you."

(Sahih, Sunan An-Nasa’i, Book 48, Hadith 185)

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with them), who said that the Messenger of Allah (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:
'Hasten to do good deeds before you are overtaken by one of the seven afflictions.'' Then (giving a warning) he said, Are you waiting for such poverty which will make you unmindful of devotion; or prosperity which will make you corrupt, or disease as will disable you, or such senility as will you mentally unstable, or sudden death, or Ad-Dajjal who is the worst expected absent, or the Hour, and the Hour will be most grievous and most bitter.''
